WatchTrove
Privacy Policy
WatchTrove is designed to work without accounts, advertising trackers or analytics. This page lists everything that is stored or shared when you use it.
Last updated November 4, 2026.
Information stored on your device
- My List. Titles you save are stored in your browser’s local storage under the name
watchtrove.list.v1. Each entry holds the title, year, type, poster address, your status (Want to Watch or Watched) and the date you saved it. This information never leaves your device unless you export it yourself. You can delete it with Clear list on the My List page or by clearing your browser’s site data. - Preferences cookie. If you choose a country or title language other than the defaults on the Preferences page, WatchTrove sets one functional cookie,
watchtrove_prefs, containing only those two choices (for example,MA.fr). It lasts one year. Choosing the defaults deletes it.
WatchTrove does not use advertising cookies, analytics cookies or cross-site tracking.
Information the server processes
Like any website, the server receives your IP address, the page you request, your browser’s user agent and the time of the request. The hosting provider may keep these in standard access logs for security and troubleshooting.
To protect the service from abuse, search and filtering requests are counted per visitor for a few minutes. The counter is stored under a keyed hash, not under your IP address itself, and it expires automatically.
Searches you type are sent to TMDB to find matching titles. Recent results are kept briefly on the server so identical searches do not repeat the request. They are not linked to you.
Outside services your browser contacts
- TMDB image servers (image.tmdb.org) deliver posters, backdrops, photos and service logos.
- YouTube delivers trailer preview images (i.ytimg.com). If you press play, the trailer loads from youtube-nocookie.com, and YouTube’s own privacy policy applies to that player.
- Links you choose to follow, such as TMDB, JustWatch, IMDb or an official website, take you to sites with their own policies.
